A suspected suicide bombing near the main gate of Kabal Police Station in Swat has left seven people dead, including a police officer, while 18 others were injured.

According to a statement issued by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police, preliminary information indicates that the explosion was a suicide attack.

The blast also caused partial damage to the main gate of Kabal Police Station.

A Bomb Disposal Squad has reached the scene to determine the nature and circumstances of the explosion.

The statement said that a large contingent of Swat Police, led by District Police Officer (DPO) Muhammad Umar Khan, is present at the site.

A search operation has also been launched in the area to trace and apprehend any suspected facilitators linked to the attack.

The deceased and injured have been shifted to the Central Hospital in Swat for medical treatment.

According to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police, the head of the suspected suicide bomber has been recovered. Preliminary investigations suggest that the attacker may have been an Afghan national, although the investigation is ongoing.

DPO Muhammad Umar Khan said that an operation has been initiated to arrest any suspected facilitators, while the Bomb Disposal Squad continues to investigate the exact nature of the explosion.

He added that those responsible for the attack would be identified and brought to justice.
