The Sindh cabinet on Tuesday approved 11 non-Annual Development Programme (ADP) infrastructure schemes under the Karachi Mega Project with a combined estimated cost of Rs11.198 billion.

According to a statement, the projects will be funded through the allocation reserved for “New Development Initiatives” in the ADP for the fiscal year 2025-26.

The approved schemes focus on the rehabilitation and improvement of key roads and transport corridors across Karachi. These include Haji Ibrahim Essa Road, Haji Camp Road, Korangi Link Road and roads in Clifton connecting Marine Drive.

Other projects include development work on Mehran Road and Pajero Road in Scheme-33, Korangi Creek Airbase Road, extension of Jinnah Avenue in Gulzar-e-Hijri and the Baldia Stadium Road project linking Shahrah-e-Orangi with Hub River Road.

The cabinet also approved the construction of two major bridges at Power House Chowrangi in North Karachi and 4-K Chowrangi in Surjani Town to ease traffic congestion and improve connectivity in the city.

To begin work on these schemes, the provincial cabinet sanctioned Rs560 million from the ADP during the current financial year, which amounts to around five per cent of the total estimated cost.
