In a groundbreaking development, a landlord in Sindh, Agha Samiullah, has successfully extracted fibre from banana stems to produce yarn.

The innovative approach transforms a previously discarded material into a valuable resource.

"We thought, why discard or burn banana stems when we can utilise them?" Agha Samiullah explained who owns land in Badin's Tando Ghulam Ali area.

The farmer further informed that he uses solar panels to run extraction machines in order to save the environment.

"My first priority is the environment. I decided not to burn banana stems and use them to extract fibre, same, I discarded the idea to run machines on diesel to save our environment," Samiullah told the private news channel.

"The raw fiber can be used to make beds, carpets, socks, and sweaters. Mixing it with cotton at the mill can create even more products," he added.

Locals hailed this eco-friendly initiative, recognising its potential to generate income from waste material.

Landowner believed that government support for banana fiber extraction could stabilise the agricultural sector and yield significant revenue.
