In a major policy shift, Sindh government has made pre-license driving training compulsory for all applicants seeking driving licenses across the province.

The decision was taken during the meeting of the Public-Private Partnership Policy Board chaired by Murad Ali Shah in Karachi. In the meeting several policies related to education, transport and tourism were approved.

According to official statements, the government will establish dedicated Heavy Transport Vehicle and Light Transport Vehicle driver training schools throughout Sindh.

Authorities claimed that no license will be issued unless applicants first complete certified training. This move will ensure that new drivers possess adequate knowledge of traffic laws before driving on the roads.

Moreover, a target of training and licensing 100,000 drivers within five years, has been set, under the new system.

Furthermore, the CM emphasized that this initiative could help in employment, as internationally standardized training could help young drivers secure jobs in the transport sector worldwide.

During the same meeting, the board also approved projects related to eco-tourism and forest conservation. The CM also ordered work to speed up on the Marble City Karachi project, warning that delays would not be tolerated.
