Six Pakistani Army soldiers embraced martyrdom as they bravely fought and neutralized seven terrorists of Fitna Al-Khawarij during an intelligence based operation in Kurram on Wednesday. The young martyred soldiers also included Captain Noman Saleem.

According to the ISPR, the other soldiers who embraced martyrdom were Havaldar Amjad Ali (39, resident of Swabi), Naik Waqas Ahmad (36, resident of Rawalpindi), Sepoy Aijaz Ali (23, resident of Shikarpur), Sepoy Muhammad Waleed (23, resident of Jhelum), and Sepoy Muhammad Shahbaz (32, resident of Khairpur).

The ISPR hailed Captain Noman as “a brave young medical officer who, besides performing the duties of medical care, also fought gallantly and embraced shahadat (martyrdom) along with his five men.”

The forces had launched the operation on a tip off about the presence of India-backed Khawarij in the area. Following this, a sanitisation operation was initiated as part of the Azm-e-Istehkam campaign, which aims to root out terrorists supported by foreign proxies through continuous counter-terror efforts.

The increase in terrorist attacks comes amid rising unrest along the border, with infiltrations of militants taking place from the Afghan side despite Pakistan repeatedly urging the Afghan interim government to cooperate against the menace of terrorism.
