Tragedy struck in Azad Kashmir on Friday as six tourists, including five women, lost their lives when the vehicle they were travelling in plunged into the Neelum River.

The accident occurred in the Chilhana area of Neelum Valley, where the vehicle veered off a deteriorated and unprotected mountainous road.

With no safety barrier in place, the vehicle tumbled thousands of feet down the hillside before crashing into the river below.

The group was reportedly en route to Muzaffarabad from Neelum Valley when the fatal incident took place.

The exact cause of the accident is still under investigation, as rescue efforts remain ongoing.

Teams from the State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA) have arrived at the scene and are assisting in the rescue and recovery operation.

Authorities have not yet confirmed the identities of the victims, and further details are expected as the situation develops.
