The Taliban government has confirmed that Pakistani military aircraft carried out airstrikes on several Afghan provinces overnight, hitting areas in Kabul, Kandahar and Paktia.

According to Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid, explosions were heard across these regions after fighter jets entered Afghan airspace. He stated the strikes were made on multiple targets but claimed there were no reported casualties due to them.

Local Afghan media reported that the air strikes began at around 1:50 a.m. in Kabul, where several blasts were heard in districts including Makrorayan, Qasaba and Darul Aman.

In Paktia province, the Mansouri Corps positions were hit twice in the bombardment. Afghan eyewitnesses also reported seeing a Pakistani aircraft flying over Kandahar after midnight.

Meanwhile the Pakistani officials claim the strikes hit Taliban military installations and defence targets across multiple provinces.

Both sides continue to put accusations, with Pakistan claiming security responses to militant threats and the Taliban condemning Pakistani violations of Afghan sovereignty.
