Dr Aafia Siddiqui’s sister, Fowzia Siddiqui has called on the public to support Aafia’s clemency petition by signing an online petition and writing letters demanding her release. Dr Fowzia will visit the White House soon to personally appeal for her sister’s freedom, emphasising that overwhelming public support is crucial to highlight the urgency of Aafia’s case.

Dr Aafia Siddiqui is a Pakistani neuroscientist, who has been imprisoned in the United States for nearly two decades. 

Recently, her lawyer, Clive Stafford Smith revealed new “compelling evidence,” revealing that Aafia was coerced into copying content to make her appear as a terrorist while she was tortured at a US airbase in Bagram.

According to the lawyer, the text she copied was taken from an American science magazine. 

This evidence is yet to be presented in court, but it offers hope for a breakthrough in her case.

Dr Fowzia expressed optimism, stating, “This time there is more hope than ever before.” She urged people to support the clemency petition, highlighting that Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has already written to US President Joe Biden, requesting Aafia’s release.

Speaking with determination, Dr Fowzia said she would visit the White House with her “head held high” and with confidence that “the world of humanity is behind me.” She concluded with an emotional appeal, “Please act as if your life depends on it.”
