Several areas of Karachi experienced rain accompanied by thunderstorms on Thursday night, bringing temporary relief from the city's hot and humid conditions.

The downpour, though brief, led to water accumulation on roads in some low-lying neighborhoods, causing minor traffic disruptions.

Residents welcomed the change in weather, while the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast more heavy rain in the coming days.

In Malir, Gulshan-e-Hadid, Memon Goth, Shah Latif Town, Razzaqabad, and Bhains Colony, intermittent rain showers brought significant relief from the humidity.

Meanwhile, North Karachi, North Nazimabad, Manghopir, Shahrah-e-Faisal, Saddar, and Gulshan-e-Iqbal witnessed intense rain with gusty winds, causing temporary disruption in traffic flow and raising concerns about urban flooding.

The rain also extended to Steel Town, Pipri, Port Qasim, Ghaghar Phatak, Kathore, Gadap, M-9 Motorway, and areas surrounding the Karachi Airport. Reports indicate that flight schedules were partially affected due to heavy rainfall near the airport vicinity.

Authorities have advised motorists to exercise caution and urged relevant departments to stay alert for possible urban flooding in vulnerable zones.

According to the meteorological department, a westerly weather system has moved over the western regions of the country, under which, most parts of Sindh are expected to see thunderstorms, gusty winds, and rain starting today until 29 June.

Some areas are likely to receive moderate to heavy downpours.

Districts including Tharparkar, Umerkot, Mirpurkhas, Badin, and Thatta are forecast to receive rain and thunderstorms during this period. Similar weather is expected in Sujawal, Dadu, Sukkur, Larkana, and Khairpur.

Downpours are also expected in Naushahro Feroze, Shaheed Benazirabad, Hyderabad, and Sanghar, while Jamshoro, Tando Allahyar, Tando Muhammad Khan, Jacobabad, Ghotki, and Kashmore may also experience rainfall with strong winds and thunder.
