A massive explosion rocked the Tirah valley in Khyber district after a cache of explosives stored inside the house of a Khawarij commander detonated, killing 14 militants and leaving at least 10 civilians, including women and children dead.
The powerful blast destroyed five houses, killed dozens of livestock, and left several people trapped under the rubble, spreading fear and panic across the area.
According to local sources, the explosion occurred in the area where militants had reportedly converted a residential compound into a storage and manufacturing site for explosives and weapons, endangering nearby residents.
The detonation triggered the collapse of mud houses in the vicinity, burying civilians under debris.
As per reports, eyewitnesses and police confirmed that the house belonged to Khawarij commander Aman Gul, whose stockpile of explosives set off the deadly chain reaction.
Locals told the media they heard the sounds of bombing during the night, while angry residents took to the streets to protest the targeting of innocent civilians.
The incident, which has also been reported by international media outlets, underscores how militant groups have placed entire communities at risk by turning civilian areas into weapons depots
Authorities are still assessing the scale of damage, while fear grips the region following the blast. No official statement has yet been issued regarding the incident.
