Some tourists in Hunza were confronted by a local activist over wall-chalking, after which they were reported to the authorities and later apologised for their actions.
A video shared by Jameel Ahmed, known as Hunzographer on Instagram, showed him confronting a group of three to four individuals, as one of them spray-painted his name on a wall along a roadside in Hunza.
Ahmed tried to stop the tourists, informing them that wall chalking is a punishable offense in Hunza. In response, one of the tourists casually remarked, “It was just a name.”

As the group attempted to leave following the confrontation, Ahmed recorded their video and warned them that he would report the incident to the authorities.
Later, he shared another video in which the individual who spray-painted the wall apologised and urged others to refrain from defacing public property when visiting Hunza. He also covered the writing using white paint.
Other members of the group also apologised, assuring that they would not repeat such behavior.
Police and local administrative officials later arrived at the scene. One official told the tourists that they are always welcome in Hunza, but they must respect the local culture and environmental values.
