Transporters are facing the loss of millions of rupees as their containers loaded with medicines, electronics and goods for import and export are being used by administrations in Lahore, Islamabad and Rawalpindi to block entrance and exit points of the cities via containers.
“Police have captured hundreds of thousands loaded containers during four days to block the roads,” said Tanvir Jutt, President of Pakistan Transport Council, adding, “The government should use the state resources to close the roads.”
Several trucks are loaded with medicines, vegetables, fruits, electronics, and goods for import and export, according to Jutt.
“The government will be responsible if our containers have been looted in the demonstration,” he said.
Tanvir Ahmed Jutt expressed fears that loaded containers and trucks can cause a major accident.
“The goods transport sector has already been destroyed due to the wrong policies of the government,” he said and requested Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to release the containers,” he said.
"We are being forced to take a tough decision, and it would materialise if our containers and trucks are not released immediately, as we have been losing millions of rupees since the beginning of this political chaos due to the seizure of containers and trucks," he added.
