Two Pakistani workers in Dubai have been sentenced to three months in prison and will be deported after being convicted of sexually assaulting a colleague.
The assault took place on February 3, 2024, in a shared room within a labor accommodation facility.
According to the court's findings, the two men, who were roommates with the victim, planned the assault together. One of the men used a knife to threaten the victim, compelling the other to carry out the sexual assault.
The crime was interrupted by another resident who heard the victim's cries for help, leading to the swift arrest of the two assailants.
Prosecutors presented compelling evidence, including eyewitness accounts and forensic findings, directly linking the second defendant to the crime.
Despite the defendants denying the charges, the judge found the evidence to be strong and consistent, leading to their conviction.
The court underscored the seriousness of the attack, noting the premeditated nature and use of a weapon. Consequently, both men received a three-month prison sentence starting May 13, 2024, and will be deported upon completing their sentences.
