Following his recent visit to Pakistan, U.S. Congressman Jack Bergman has once again called for the release of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan.
In a statement shared on social media platform X, Bergman said, “After meetings with leadership in Pakistan, I am reiterating my call for the release of Imran Khan. We seek a strong economic partnership with Pakistan—let us work together for democratic freedom and stability.”
A member of the Republican Party, Bergman visited Pakistan in mid-April, where he held meetings with senior officials including the Chief of Army Staff.
PTI leaders reacted with mixed sentiments to Bergman’s statement.

While some welcomed his renewed stance, others criticized the fact that he did not meet with Imran Khan during his visit.
PTI-affiliated figures Shehbaz Gill and Zulfi Bukhari publicly appreciated the congressman’s position, while others expressed disappointment over what they described as delayed and incomplete support.
