US President Donald Trump is expected to arrive in Pakistan this September in a much-anticipated visit that could pave the way for strengthened bilateral ties between the two countries.
The visit, if confirmed, would mark the first by a sitting US president in nearly two decades, since President George W Bush’s trip to Pakistan in 2006.
US-Pakistan relations received a notable boost last month when President Trump hosted Pakistan’s Army Chief, Field Marshal Asim Munir, at the White House in an unprecedented meeting.
The engagement was seen as a significant step toward rebuilding trust and cooperation.

Earlier, following a ceasefire agreement between Pakistan and India, President Trump expressed a desire to enhance trade relations with Pakistan. He praised the Pakistani people for their talent and potential.
On the trade front, Trump lauded Pakistan and its citizens, calling them “brilliant” and capable of producing “amazing things.”
He expressed surprise at the low trade volume between the US and Pakistan despite the generally positive relations and emphasised the need to promote bilateral trade as a pathway to peace.
“We can’t forget them, it takes two to make a rectangle,” he said, expressing optimism about strengthening trade ties.
Trump further said, “I also talked to them about trade. They would love to trade. They are brilliant people, and they make incredible products, yet we don’t do much trading with them.”
