Ashura, observed on the tenth day of Muharram, is being marked with deep religious fervor and solemnity across Pakistan. This day commemorates the martyrdom of Imam Hussain, the grandson of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), and his companions.

Major cities witnessed large processions with thousands of mourners participating in ceremonies to honor the sacrifices of Imam Hussain and his followers during the Battle of Karbala.

To ensure safety, mobile phone services were suspended in sensitive areas including Karachi, Lahore, Quetta, and other cities. In Karachi, the main procession started at Nishtar Park and ended at Husainia Iranian in Kharadar. Authorities also prohibited double riding on motorcycles, the display of weapons, and the use of drones and helicopters.

In Lahore, the main procession began at Nisar Haveli in Mochi Gate and concluded at Karbala Gamay Shah. Mobile phone services were suspended in areas hosting processions and mourning gatherings throughout Punjab.

Similar processions took place in Islamabad, Peshawar, and other cities. In Islamabad, the main procession originated from Imam Bargah Colonel Mubqal and ended at Imam Bargah Qadeemi. In Quetta, the main procession commenced on Alamdar Road.

On Sunday, mobile phone and internet services were suspended in Jacobabad and Sukkur, while in Peshawar and Quetta, services were partially suspended and later restored that night.
