Islamic Ideological Council Chairman Dr. Raghib Hussain Naeemi has said that it is the need of the hour that social media should be used for the promotion of Islamic teachings as well as national security.

VPNs, or Virtual Private Networks, are commonly utilized to ensure online privacy and to gain entry to restricted websites. While authorities claim that VPNs are misused for illegal financial activities and terrorism, detractors argue that banning them fails to address broader societal and technological issues.

Addressing a press conference after a meeting of Islamic Ideological Council, Naeemi said VPN or any other such social media platform is not illegitimate but their use should be done in a proper manner.

He made it clear that use of a registered VPN will be legal as per Sharia laws. Naeemi said CII has decided to consult experts in this regard.

CII chief said it is not possible to deny access to social media applications but they must be used positively.

Raghib Naeemi also claimed that the ban on social media app is not the solution to the problems but there should be a suitable alternative.

He said social media apps should not be used for sectarian or anti state propaganda. He said every one has the right to access information under Article 19 of the Constitution.
