X, formerly Twitter, is implementing a significant price increase for its Premium+ subscription service, raising costs by 37.5% to $22 per month.
This marks the largest price hike since Elon Musk acquired the platform in 2022.
The new pricing will take effect in the U.S. on December 21, with the monthly rate rising from $16 to $22. Annual subscriptions will also see an increase, climbing from $168 to $229.
The platform explained the price adjustments as necessary to support the services offered to users. Existing Premium+ subscribers will maintain their current rates until January 20, 2024.
Globally, other markets will experience similar hikes, with Premium+ subscriptions in the European Union rising from €16 to €21, and in Canada from $20 to $29.
Some countries will face more drastic increases. In Nigeria, the service price will jump to ₦34,000 per month, up from ₦7,300. In Turkey, the cost will rise from ₺300 to ₺770.
X’s basic subscription tier will remain unchanged, still priced at $3 per month.
