A partial solar eclipse, the first of 2025, will occur today (March 29), as the moon moves in front of the sun, blocking part of its light. However, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) confirms it will not be visible in Pakistan.

The eclipse is set to begin at 1:51 pm Pakistan Standard Time and is expected to end at 5:44 pm. Nevertheless, the phenomenon will only be visible in specific regions across the globe.

Astronomers believe that this celestial event will be observable in Europe, West Africa, North America, and the Atlantic region.

This partial solar eclipse will create a rare phenomenon known as a "double sunrise," making it appear as if the sun rises twice. This effect occurs when the moon partially covers the sun during the eclipse.

During this event, the sun will seem to rise, then briefly fade, before rising again as the moon moves away. The most striking instance of this effect occurs when the eclipse happens at dawn.

The solar eclipse can be viewed live on several platforms, including NASA, the SLOOH Observatory, and possibly ISRO and YouTube channels.

NASA has advised that "everyone watching the eclipse must use proper eye protection or an indirect viewing method to protect their eyes.”
