The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has announced the commencement of a major network upgrade aimed at enhancing the stability, reliability, security and overall performance of its network infrastructure and digital services.
According to a statement issued by the authority, the upgrade activity began at 5:00 PM on June 24, 2026 and will continue until 6:00 AM on June 25, 2026.
PTA said the maintenance and upgrade work is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen its digital systems and improve the quality of services provided to consumers and stakeholders across the country.
During the upgrade period, the authority warned that services associated with the Device Identification, Registration and Blocking System (DIRBS) may experience intermittent disruptions or temporary unavailability.
Users seeking to register mobile devices online may therefore face delays in accessing the platform.
The telecom regulator assured the public that its technical teams are closely monitoring the process to minimize inconvenience and ensure that all services are restored as quickly as possible once the upgrade is completed.
PTA further stated that the enhancement of its network infrastructure is expected to improve operational efficiency, cybersecurity and service reliability in the long term.
