Asia and the Middle East are at the forefront of mobile internet speeds globally, significantly outpacing major nations such as the United States.
Since 2018, the number of individuals accessing the internet has surged by 1.5 billion; however, notable disparities in speed and data consumption persist across different regions.
Countries with high income experience median mobile broadband speeds that are five times faster and generate an astonishing 20 times more data traffic per capita compared to their low-income counterparts.
Furthermore, the rankings have evolved, with new data available up to October 2024.
The list of the top five countries with the fastest mobile internet speeds remains largely consistent, albeit with some notable changes.
Recent updates indicate that Denmark has ascended two positions, now ranking among the top five with a median mobile internet download speed of 149.73 Mbps.
Bulgaria has also made significant progress, climbing three spots to enter the top five, while South Korea has notably dropped out of this elite group.
The leading three positions continue to be held by the UAE and Qatar, but Kuwait has emerged as a new competitor, now ranking third with a median download speed of 258.51 Mbps, a position it did not hold in 2023.
In contrast, Pakistan finds itself in the 100th position with a median mobile internet download speed of 20.61 Mbps.
In terms of broadband internet, Pakistan ranks 141st with a median download speed of 15.6 Mbps, although it has improved by two rankings.
