WhatsApp rolls out new features to improve group chats

WhatsApp has introduced three new features aimed at improving the group chat experience, making it easier for users to communicate, organise discussions and create new groups.

In a statement, Meta said the updates are designed to simplify how users interact in WhatsApp groups and manage conversations.

One of the key additions is an upgraded polling feature. Users can now set an expiry time for polls so they automatically close at a selected time. The update also allows users to hide voter identities for greater privacy and edit polls within 15 minutes of posting them.

WhatsApp has also introduced a "Create a Similar Group" option, enabling users to create a new group based on the members of an existing chat with a single tap. The feature is intended to make setting up related groups quicker and more convenient.

Another major addition is the new @all mention feature, which allows users to notify every member of a group with a single tag instead of mentioning individuals separately.

According to Meta, in groups with more than 32 members, only administrators will be able to use the @all mention feature. However, users will have the option to mute @all notifications if they do not wish to receive them.
