WhatsApp has announced that starting from May 2025, it will discontinue its services on certain older iPhones. Only devices running iOS 15.2 or later will continue to support WhatsApp.

As a result, older models such as the iPhone 5s, iPhone 6, and iPhone 6 Plus will no longer be able to run the app.

According to the company, this decision was made for security reasons, as Apple has stopped providing security updates for these older versions, putting users’ data at risk.

In recent months, WhatsApp has introduced several new features aimed at enhancing user privacy. These include the ability to lock specific chats, accessible only through a password, fingerprint, or Face ID.

Another new feature, "Silence Unknown Callers," allows users to block calls from unrecognized numbers. Additionally, the "Privacy Checkup" feature helps users easily review and manage their privacy settings.

However, many of these advanced features require newer technology and may not work properly on older devices.

Therefore, users wishing to continue using WhatsApp are advised to upgrade to a newer iPhone model, such as the iPhone 13 or iPhone 14, to fully benefit from the latest updates and security enhancements.
