The company is not accepting any new applications for the revenue-sharing scheme anymore. The program will be shut down completely after September 7.
The company launched a new program called Original Content Rewards Program which will replace the former one. According to X, the new program is "designed to reward creators who bring original ideas, expertise, reporting, creativity and commentary to X."
Under the new program, creators can earn money depending on the number of qualified impressions their original content gets.
Under the new program, original content is defined by X as "users' own writings or reporting, photos and videos created by users, memes and illustrations made by the users."
The user may earn money even from someone else's post but in case he/she adds some commentary or analysis or edits an existing photo or video in a creative way.
However, if the user adds only some description or captions to the other person's post it will not be considered as the original content. In other words, the contribution should be valuable enough. Otherwise, it is not "original" under the terms of X.
In order to participate in the new revenue-sharing program users should be at least 18 years old and reside in the country where the program operates according to X's help page.
In addition, the user should pay for Premium, Premium+ or Premium Business subscription, have 500 verified followers, and get at least 500,000 Home timeline views from verified users in the past 90 days.
It means that impressions or views should be unique impressions from Premium users. Users should meet all those conditions continuously during their participation in the program.
Those users who participate in the revenue-sharing program will have to reapply for the program when they become eligible on September 8. All those who are not currently in the program may apply for the program right now.
In March, X updated its revenue sharing program focusing more on engagement from the users' home regions.
It was probably done in order to prevent users from impersonating Americans after it became clear that most popular users who posted pro-Trump messages and commentary about USA were not Americans at all.
