Social media platform X, formerly Twitter, has officially launched an updated version of its blocking feature.
The revamped tool aims to provide greater control over online interactions, but its modifications have raised eyebrows.
The updated feature restricts blocked accounts from engaging directly with users, prohibiting them from following, liking, replying, reposting, or sending direct messages.
However, public posts remain visible to blocked accounts, albeit without interaction capabilities.
Notably, blocked accounts will no longer receive direct notifications, instead encountering a notice when visiting the blocker's profile.
The feature contrasts with the "mute" feature, which limits engagement without alerting the muted account.
X encourages users to explore alternative options, like muting, to customize their experience and balance safety with communication flexibility.
The platform's evolution comes as X strives to address user concerns and promote a healthier online environment.
