100 citizens killed by robbers in Karachi in nine months this year

A surge in street crime has plagued Karachi as almost 100 people in the port city lost their lives to snatching incidents, sources said on Thursday.
According to the Citizen Police Liaison Committee (CPLC), over 15,000 mobile phones and 35,000 motorcycles were stolen from citizens in nine months this year.
Furthermore, around 1,200 vehicles were stolen or snatched from the city's residents.
The overall crime toll is dire, with 471 people killed in various incidents across the metropolis.
In a tragic incident last night, a young man lost his life while resisting a robbery in Surjani Town area of the megapolis.
Two brothers were targeted by armed robbers while returning home after collecting their salaries. When they refused to hand over their motorcycle, the assailants opened fire, claiming one life and injuring the other brother.
More than 800 people were injured while resisting robbery attempts, while seven police officers have made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.
