17-year old maid gang raped in Karachi,Gulshan-i-Maymar

In Gulshan-I-Maymar, a 17-years old girl was kidnapped and gang-raped on Tuesday, according to police on Wednesday.

The police surgeon, Dr. Summaiya Syed, said that "The teenage girl has been admitted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital. A preliminary medical checkup confirms that she was 'subjected to sexual violence'."

She further stated that “all relevant samples have been collected for serology, DNA profiling and cross-matching.”

The police reported that they have taken “prompt action” in arresting one suspect, while there are efforts to arrest the other accused who has absconded.

The victim has told a private TV channel that she is a domestic help and claimed that some influential men kidnapped her and took her to an unknown location, where she faced sexual and physical abuse.

The victim also reported: “We reached the police station along with my family, and the SHO did not register an FIR.”

At the same time, a police official said that the incident came into the notice of the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Sindh, Javed Alam Odho, who ordered the suspension and demotion of the SHO of the area.

IGP Odho has also sought a report from the SSP of the West region and directed to submit a detailed inquiry report pertaining to alleged delaying tactics by the police.

Later, a case was registered on the complaint of the victim’s brother at the Gulshan-e-Maymar police station.
