Murad Ali Shah, CM Sindh, has approved Rs21.53 billion to improve Karachi’s road situation and civic infrastructure, with Rs13 billion reserved for road rehabilitation across the city.

In a meeting chaired by the chief minister, officials, including Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah and Mayor Murtaza Wahab, discussed the condition of the city’s roads. Murtaza Wahab briefed that 409 roads across Karachi require immediate attention.

Under the road rehabilitation plan, patchwork repair will be done on around 400 roads in seven districts, while nine key roads will be fully reconstructed. 

Moreover, combined projects, including road works, sewerage upgrades, and water supply improvements, are estimated at Rs12.57 billion.

Furthermore, Rs 8.53 billion were approved for road-related infrastructure such as drains and street lights, and directed the KMC to rehabilitate 26 major roads on a priority basis.

CM Shah emphasized that public safety and convenience are top priorities and instructed authorities to ensure transparent, quality, and timely execution of all projects, while the Finance Department was ordered to release the funds without delay.

Financial support for 24 town municipal corporations was also granted to aid local work under the major infrastructure project.
