Curfew imposed in Balochistan Surab's district over law and order concerns

QUETTA: The district administration of Surab on Sunday imposed a curfew in the district till August 15, on grounds of concern over the law and order situation.
The official notification stated that, “Curfew will be applicable in the area from 8pm to 9am during the period between August 9 to 15, 2026.”
The administration asked the citizens not to move out of their houses unless necessary during the curfew hours and cooperate with the law enforcing agencies in full and adhere to the security standard operating procedures (SOPs) for the sake of their family members.
The notification also informed that those violating the curfew would be liable for any harm or loss caused due to the violation.
The notification further stated that action would be taken against those violating the curfew restrictions.
Khuzdar’s commercial centres timings revised
In another development, the district administration of Khuzdar announced revised operating timings of the commercial centres in the district in view of the increasing security concerns.
As per the notification issued by the office of deputy commissioner Khuzdar, the measure was taken as a precautionary step to safeguard the lives and properties of the people and businessmen of the district.
All the markets, shops, hotels and other commercial premises in Khuzdar district will remain closed from 8pm to 10am daily.
The above mentioned orders have come into immediate effect and will remain in force till further directives.
The pharmacies, medical stores, private hospitals and other health facilities have been exempted from the restriction on account of the essential nature of their services.
The administration instructed the assistant commissioners, magistrates and the police officials to enforce the order strictly in their jurisdictions.
The district administration also called upon the traders and general public to cooperate with the administration in order to reduce the security threats.
The restrictions will be reviewed and amended depending on the security situation.
On Sunday, the district authorities in Kalat and Khuzdar had directed traders and businessmen to close shops in the evening and asked the citizens to stay at home during night.
