Dumper crushes double cabin vehicle in Karachi, two dead, one injured

A double cabin vehicle was crushed under a dumper loaded with sand on Wednesday, resulting in the deaths of two individuals and injuries to two others. The victims included two women, a young girl, and the vehicle’s driver.

The accident occurred on the Rashid Minhas Road from Millennium Mall to Shahrah-e-Faisal.

Upon receiving reports, personnel from the District Police, Traffic Police, Rangers, Chhipa, Edhi, and Rescue 1122 arrived at the scene and launched rescue operations. The road was closed to traffic, causing severe congestion in the surrounding area.

Rescue workers from Chhipa were the first to extract the injured driver from the wreckage.

More than three hours later, the sand-covered dumper and the double cabin vehicle were removed with the help of cranes and lifters. Edhi volunteers recovered the bodies of a woman and a young girl and shifted them to Jinnah Hospital.

The deceased woman was identified as 55-year-old Shahina Naeem, while the young girl was identified as 7-year-old Ayesha Dukhtar Khurram.

 The injured woman was identified as 30-year-old Anam. All the victims belonged to the same family and were residents of Scheme 33, Super Highway Road Cooperative Housing Society.

According to a report, relatives of the victims clashed with media personnel, including TV cameramen and mobile phone users recording videos.

According to eyewitnesses, the dumper driver, who fled the scene, appeared to be intoxicated.

Police confirmed that the driver of the dumper responsible for the accident had escaped and that a search operation is underway.

 More than two hours after the recovery of the bodies, traffic police removed the dumper and the sand from the accident site and shifted the dumper and the double cabin vehicle to the police station.
