Police snatch mobile phone, cash from mentally-challenged man in Bahawalnagar

In a shocking incident, six cops of Bahawalnagar police, including a sub-inspector, brutally tortured a mentally-challenged man and looted his mobile phone and cash.
Sources said the man identified as, Junaid, went missing on April 21. The next day his brother Zeeshan received a call from Haroonabad city police that his brother was critically injured in an accident.
Later, the family came to know that six policemen, including the sub-inspector Muhammad Umar, tortured the victim man with rods and sticks, looting his mobile phone and Rs5,000 cash.
The victim’s brother claimed that cops told them to remain silent on the matter and threatened them about the dire consequences in any case of complaint.
The family claimed that the policemen also took a signature from the family on blank paper.
The family approached the district police officer (DPO) Bahawalnagar, Naseebullah Khan, who took notice of the incident and ordered the concerned authorities to arrest the culprits.
The suspects were arrested by the police and the case was registered under section 342 of the Pakistan Penal Code and 156D Police Order 2002.
