A five-year-old boy, Hassan Amir, lost his life after falling into an uncovered manhole in Lahore’s Sundar area on Tuesday, officials said.
According to police and the child’s father, Hassan was playing in a street near Rana Town, behind a mosque, when he accidentally fell into a drainage pit. Residents quickly rescued him and rushed him to a hospital, but he later died from his injuries.
The victim’s father, Amir Jameel, filed an FIR at Sundar Police Station under Section 322 of the Pakistan Penal Code, which deals with manslaughter.
In his complaint, he alleged that negligence by the concerned authorities, the Atomic Energy Society (Maraka) administration, and A&B Construction Company management led to his son’s death and called for legal action against those responsible.
Police have launched an investigation to determine accountability and whether necessary safety precautions were neglected. Meanwhile, Saddar Division SP Shah Rukh Khan visited the site and expressed condolences to the grieving family.
