A gold medalist mechanical engineer, Irtiqa was killed resisting robbery in Karachi.

Irtiqa, riding a motorcycle, was fatally shot in Gulshan-e-Iqbal Block S by dacoits during a robbery bid. The dacoits, later, fled with the motorbike of Irtiza.

Irtiqa, who was killed in the shooting, was a gold medalist mechanical engineer and the son of a former Jamaat-e-Islami student wing leader in Karachi. The deceased's elder brother is lecturer at Hamdard University.

It should be noted that Irtiqa got married two years ago. The dacoits robbed Irtiqa of his bike, money, and mobile phone before shooting him in Gulshan-e-Iqbal Block S.

Police have initiated an investigation into the incident, treating it as a case of robbery.

The street crimes are on the rise in Karachi and despite claims of the PPP's Sindh government, the situation is not improving.
