Hafiz Hamdullah, a leader of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI), has stated that the prohibition on marriages for individuals under 18 years of age is contrary to the teachings of the Quran and Sunnah.

Speaking to the media in Hangu, Hafiz Hamdullah remarked that the 27th Constitutional Amendment has effectively buried the Constitution of 1973

He argued that the ban on under-18 marriages goes against Islamic principles, while laws aimed at regulating religious seminaries and eliminating interest-based financial systems have yet to be implemented.

Hafiz Hamdullah further criticised the recently passed domestic violence law, claiming it also contradicts the Quran and Sunnah.

In addition, he questioned the privatisation of the national airline, calling it a major economic failure.

He highlighted Pakistan’s $80 billion debt and asked rhetorically whether the government intends to privatise that as well.
