Hotel owner, staff booked for assaulting food delivery rider in Karachi

KARACHI: Twelve people, among whom is a hotel owner and his employees, have been registered in a case involving an attack on a food delivery rider as well as his fellow riders, Ferozabad Police informed on Saturday.
The video footage of the attack went viral on social media.
In his written statement filed to the police, the victim, named as Muhammad Shehzad, said that on May 1, he had approached a hotel located at Hill Park Chowrangi, Shaheed-e-Millat Road to deliver an order.
Shehzad added that the owner of the hotel intentionally delayed giving him the order. At this point of time, he objected and informed him that the rider has only five minutes to give deliveries and that the hotel owner got infuriated.
He further narrated that the owner, along with 10 to 11 other employees working at the hotel, attacked him badly using his legs and fists.
The victim added that two other riders who happened to be present there while witnessing this assault tried to help him, but they too were assaulted brutally. He even added that gunshots were fired by the hotel owner.
Police said that two persons have been taken into custody while raiding was being carried out for other suspects.
