The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has fixed March 31 for the hearing of the £190 million case against PTI founder Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi.
According to the cause list issued by the office of the registrar of the high court, the case will be taken up by IHC Chief Justice Sardar Sarfraz Dogar and Justice Muhammad Asif.
The high court has already sought a response from the legal team of PTI founder Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi on a plea filed by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).
The National Accountability Bureau has filed objections stating that the applications for suspending the sentences are not maintainable.
The PTI founder and Bushra Bibi have filed petitions for suspending their sentences. They were sentenced by an accountability court on January 17, 2025.
Earlier on Thursday, the United Kingdom’s House of Lords held a debate on the detention and health of PTI founder Imran Khan with concern expressed over his jail access.
Imran has been incarcerated since August 2023 and is currently serving a jail sentence at Adiala Jail in a £190 million corruption case. He also has trials pending against him under the Anti-Terrorism Act (ATA) in the ongoing cases related to the May 9, 2023, protests.
Labour Party’s Baroness Alexander of Cleveden initiated the debate in the House of Lords, saying that the debate was a timely one as it was related to the “deteriorating welfare” of Imran Khan.
She stated that the debate was not meant to promote or favor a particular politician or their political achievements. “Imran Khan, like every politician in the past, present, and future, has made mistakes, but this is about making our voice heard on the concerns that have been raised.”
