The Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) has announced the deployment of advanced drone technology to monitor and prevent traffic violations across the federal capital.
Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Capt (R) Syed Zeeshan Haider stated that drone cameras will assist in strict enforcement of traffic regulations.
Initially, drones will be flown over major routes including the Expressway and Srinagar Highway to identify traffic violations in real time.
“Using drone surveillance, we will be able to promptly detect infractions and issue challans on the spot,” said the CTO.
He further mentioned that in the second phase, drone monitoring will be expanded to cover additional highways and all city sectors to ensure wider compliance with traffic laws.
The drones will not only help enforce traffic laws but will also assist in identifying areas with heavy congestion. This will allow ITP to deploy special response teams swiftly, minimizing traffic delays and improving the overall flow.
