A jewellery shop in Karachi’s Saddar area was looted in a pre-dawn theft by two armed men who made off with a safe.
According to police, the incident occurred at around 5:30am when two suspects arrived on a motorcycle and began cutting the shop’s shutter with a cutter. A security guard reached the scene during the attempt, but the suspects held him at gunpoint and allegedly forced him to assist in removing the safe before fleeing without paying him any money.
Taking notice of the incident, Sindh Home Minister Zia-ul-Hassan Lanjar sought a report from the DIG South and directed authorities to use modern techniques to arrest those involved.
The SSP South said police reached the site and have launched an investigation. The affected jeweller has yet to determine the value of the stolen items, and a formal FIR had not been registered at the time of reporting. Further investigation is underway.
