A district and sessions court in Karachi on Tuesday sentenced a man to 14 years in prison for sharing inappropriate pictures of his wife online.

Judicial Magistrate East Karachi also imposed a fine of Rs90,000 on the accused, identified as Faizan.

According to the prosecution, Faizan sent indecent photos of his wife to her brother through social media and used them to blackmail her.

The accused's lawyer claimed that the suspect's mobile phone was misused, but the court rejected the argument.

The court stated that Faizan failed to present any witnesses or evidence in his defense, and his actions tarnished the honour of the victim and her family.

Faizan was convicted under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (Peca), which was introduced in 2016 as a shield against harassment and hate speech.
