The husband of the woman who died after falling into a sewer line near Bhatti Gate has said that while he is grateful for the steps taken by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, no amount of money can compensate for the loss of his children’s mother.

Speaking to the media in Shorkot, Ghulam Murtaza said that Rescue 1122 initially termed the incident as fake news after his wife and daughter fell into the sewer.

He alleged that SHO Zain subjected him to violence at the police station and that police officials attempted to force him to confess to having “disappeared” his wife and child.

He further claimed that when the DIG became aware of the situation, he reprimanded subordinate officers. However, after Ghulam Murtaza shared the facts with the DIG, the SHO allegedly issued threats against him.

He added that police continued to deny the incident, falsely claiming that he was not visible on Safe City cameras.

Ghulam Murtaza reiterated that he does not need one crore rupees, stating that money cannot bring his children’s mother back.

It is recalled that a woman and her infant daughter died after falling into a sewer line near Data Darbar in Lahore’s Bhatti Gate area. Initially, police and other relevant authorities denied that any such incident had occurred.

However, around ten hours later, the bodies of the woman and her child were recovered from a location approximately three kilometres away.
