A Lahore university student, who allegedly attempted suicide, is recovering at Lahore General Hospital, according to hospital officials.

A special medical board, comprising psychiatrists and psychologists, has been monitoring the student’s physical condition and mental wellbeing. The team has been closely observing her progress since her admission.

Doctors identified the student as Fatima and held in-depth discussions with her and her family as part of the treatment process.

Lahore General Hospital Principal Professor Jodat Saleem said that the student is no longer in danger and is recovering slowly. He stated that her condition is improving with each passing day due to the continuous efforts of the medical staff.

Professor Saleem said that the hospital will continue to provide full medical care, stressing that attention to her mental health will remain a key part of the treatment plan along with physical recovery.

Punjab Women Protection Authority Chairperson Hina Parvez Butt visited the hospital and met the student and her family. She confirmed that the student, who had earlier been placed on a ventilator, is now conscious and responding well to treatment.

Hina Parvez Butt said that saving the student’s life remains the highest priority and that the hospital is maintaining strict supervision at every stage of care. She said that arrangements are being made to ensure access to medical treatment, psychological support and rehabilitation services.
