A Karachi court on Tuesday granted pre-arrest bail to All Dumper Truck Owners Association president Liaquat Mehsood in a case lodged against him for firing during a protest that erupted after a dumper truck killed a man and injured his wife.

According to police, the incident occurred on Nishtar Road near Karachi Sweets, where a garbage dumper struck a motorcycle, killing 23-year-old Shahzeb Shahid and injuring his wife, Misbah. The driver of the dumper, identified as Niazullah Afzal, was arrested and taken to the police station.

Following the accident, the angry crowd set the dumper on fire, a police official confirmed.

Separately, police registered another FIR against Mehsood. The complaint was filed by Abdul Qadir, who stated that he was present at the scene when the dumper accident took place and the vehicle was set ablaze by the public.

Qadir alleged that around 3:30 a.m., Mehsood arrived at the site with 20 to 25 people, including two to three armed men, who opened fire before fleeing. The complainant further claimed that the armed men continued shooting as they escaped the area.
