Karachi: Bin Qasim police successfully recovered 36,000 kilograms of machinery during an attempted theft at Pakistan Steel Mills, according to SSP Malir.
During the operation, five suspects were arrested and a case has been registered.
The suspects had loaded the machinery onto a dumper truck to transport it elsewhere, said Abdul Khaliq Pirzada.
The recovered machinery is worth several million rupees.
One of the arrested individuals was an employee of Pakistan Steel Mills.
The suspects were reportedly planning to sell the valuable machinery at a scrap yard.
Earlier in September, Bin Qasim police arrested the serving general manager (GM) of the Steel Mills' store on charges of stealing copper, iron, and scrap, from the mills.
SHO Bin Qasim, Faisal Rafique, confirmed that the accused, identified as Syed Sadat Ali, was an on-duty employee of the Steel Mills, and would secretly transport stolen materials in a vehicle, selling them in different warehouses.
Police recovered 40 kilogrammes of copper, along with the vehicle used in the theft, from the possession of the accused.
