Lahore man kills friend's 5-year-old daughter for ransom

In a harrowing incident, a 5-year-old girl was kidnapped and murdered by her father's friend for ransom money in Lahore, police said on Friday.

According to the police, the suspect, identified as Kashif, abducted Fajar on August 10 in the Batapur area of the provincial capital.

Later, the suspect demanded a ransom from the victim's father, Rashid, in exchange for his daughter's release.

Police further said that Kashif killed the minor girl on the same day and dumped her body in a nearby forest.

Police officials have recovered the girl's remains and sent them for forensic analysis. 

Investigation revealed that Kashif, who is a friend and neighbour of the victim's father, continued to demand ransom even after Fajar's murder.

The law enforcers said the suspect had also borrowed Rs1 million from the victim's father for business purposes.

The police tracked down Kashif through call records and apprehended him, bringing an end to the horrific ordeal.
