Man rapes 11-year-old niece in Punjab

In yet another incident of child sexual abuse, an 11-year-old girl was raped by his paternal uncle in Punjab's Mandi Bahauddin district, police said on Monday.

According to the police, the incident took place in Malikwal area of the Mandi Bahauddin.

A case was registered against the suspect on the complaint of the victim’s aunt under the charges of rape.

"The suspect attempted to rape the victim in a room. When her aunt sent someone to look for the child, they heard her screams," the FIR read.

“The suspect was found attempting to sexually assault the child but fled as soon as he saw someone coming,” it added.

Taking notice of the incident, District Police Officer (DPO) Ahmad Mohiuddin instructed the Malikwal Circle deputy superintendent of police (DSP) to submit a report.

However, the suspect was arrested by the police in a raid.

Police said that the victim had also identified the suspect, who is her father's brother.

According to the initial medical report, the signs of attempted were also present on the victim's body.
