Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has sought a comprehensive plan from the Islamabad Safe City Authority to transform the capital into a Capital Smart City, while also deciding to ban the entry of vehicles without MTags into Islamabad from January 1.
On Sunday, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, along with Minister of State Talal Chaudhry, visited the Safe City Headquarters, where they reviewed the city’s monitoring system on the digital wall and observed public safety measures supported by modern technology.
They also inspected security surveillance at the Special Chinese Desk in the control room.
An important meeting was later held at the Safe City Headquarters under the chairmanship of the interior minister, during which measures for the protection of citizens’ lives and property were reviewed.
Directing authorities to expedite work on the Capital Smart City project, Mohsin Naqvi said that key civic services, including Rescue 1122, traffic management, security, and the Capital Development Authority (CDA), would be integrated into a centralised system.
He further announced that from January 1, vehicles without MTags would not be allowed to enter Islamabad.
He added that the scope of the Capital Smart City project would eventually be expanded across the country, with Islamabad being developed as a model to make it the safest city in Pakistan.
