Nine killed as heavy rains trigger roof collapses in K-P

At least nine persons have died, and 47 others have sustained injuries as a result of heavy rains that led to the collapse of roofs and walls in different parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa since March 25, a report released by the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) on Monday stated. Intermittent rains are expected to continue until Tuesday.

According to the PDMA report, nine persons died in different districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including the Bannu and North Waziristan districts.

Out of the total deaths, eight persons were children, and the remaining person was a woman. The injured persons include 26 men and 21 children. In addition, six houses have sustained partial damage.

Rescue-1122 and other relevant departments are working and continuing the rescue operation.

Official sources have directed the local administration of the affected districts to provide prompt assistance in the form of relief items. The authorities in the worst-affected district of Bannu have been directed to provide prompt assistance to the families of the deceased persons.

Heavy rains have resulted in the flooding of the Zhob-Dera National Highway, causing it to be closed.

In the Lakki Marwat area, the roof of a building collapsed in the Serai Noorung area late at night. The collapse caused injury to two children. The ages of the injured were eight and three years. The children were recovered from the rubble and taken to the hospital.

In the Nowshera area, the roof of a house collapsed in the Bara Banda area. The collapse caused injury to two men and two women. The Rescue 1122 team took all the injured to the hospital.
