Pakistan Tanners Association and livestock farmers has said approximately 600,000 to 1 million fewer animals were sacrificed this Eidul Adha compared to previous years.
The Pakistan Tanners Association reports that a total of 6.977 million animals were sacrificed across the country, comprising 3 million cows, 3.4 million goats, 400,000 sheep, and 100,000 camels.
The association noted that the decline in the number of sacrifices—ranging from 600,000 to 1 million—was primarily due to inflation and reduced purchasing power among the public.
Despite a general downward trend in animal prices this year, the total estimated value of sacrificial animals remained below Rs. 500 billion.
The average price of cows decreased by Rs. 25,000 to Rs. 150,000, while goat prices saw an increase of Rs. 10,000 to Rs. 50,000. Camel prices also experienced an upward trend.
Meanwhile, the estimated value of collected hides this year stands at Rs. 6.35 billion.
