A married woman in village 11/EB of Punjab's Arifwala fell victim to an honour killing on Sunday as her parents poisoned her to death, according to reports.

The deceased woman's husband, Nasir Ahmed, filed a complaint at the Ahmedyar police station after her murder. The accused parents confessed to the crime after their arrest.

Bisma's parents had forcibly married her to Nasir six months ago. However, she was already in love with another man, named Imran, and eloped with him, the details of the incident revealed.

Her mother, Sadiqan Bibi, filed a complaint against Imran and Ismail at the Arifwala Saddar police station. During her court appearance, Bisma defended Imran and Ismail, alleging that Nasir's mistreatment led her to leave his home.

After the case ended, she eventually returned home. Nasir then requested her family to send her back, and they reluctantly agreed.

However, Bisma refused to go back to Nasir and her parents, Sadiqan Bibi and Subhae Sadiq administered poison to her meal which led to her death.

Following the incident, authorities transferred Bisma's body to the Arifwala Tehsil Headquarters Hospital.
