Patient dies after jumping from Rawalpindi Institute of Cardiology rooftop

A patient committed suicide by jumping from the roof of the Rawalpindi Institute of Cardiology (RIC) hospital, police said on Thursday.

The patient was identified as 38-year-old Mushtaq Ahmed. He jumped from the hospital rooftop and died on the spot due to the fall.

The police took the body into custody and said further investigation is under way to determine the exact circumstances and reasons behind the incident.

Earlier, a 21-year-old female student attempted suicide at a private university in Lahore.

She was critically injured after jumping from the second-floor area of the campus and was rushed to Lahore General Hospital for treatment. She is said to be out of danger and recovering.
